US Vintage Gondola - Scale 1:32 - OpenRailway
thingiverse
I wanted a low-sided gondola that would complement my Bobber Caboose (http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1363887). After finding the excellent G-scale Flat car by pmo (http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:183820), which suited my needs perfectly, I downsized it, redesigned the bogies and added slatted sides along with new stakes. This model can be printed to create a flat car, a flat car with stakes or a gondola. To attach the cars, I've used LGB knuckle couplers, but they're a bit oversized, so I'll try designing smaller ones later. You can also use standard LGB couplers for better results. Print Settings: Printer: Rafts: No Supports: Yes Resolution: 0.1 mm for small parts and 0.2 mm for the bigger ones Infill: 40% Notes: As usual, I've printed everything with ABS. To get the best print quality, I've only used supports for the truck beam (I'm not even sure it's really necessary but I didn't try without). The frame and body are printed with a 0.2 mm layer height, while all the rest is printed with a 0.1 mm layer height. The brake wheel rod is made from a piece of 1.75 mm filament. Insert a 2 mm washer between the truck assembly and the frame when you bolt it together. Post-Printing: Assembling instructions: Glue the three pieces of the frame and the three pieces of the body on a flat surface. Insert a 3 mm nut into the two hexagonal slots on the frame, then glue the frame to the bottom of the body. Next, glue the four truss rods to the frame. Glue the three pieces of the bogie together. As an axle, I used 3 mm steel rods.
