An overengineered solution for a mind-numbingly simple task that you would only have to do as infrequently as once every decade. Because why not. The template is designed to the specifications for [US Passports](https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/passports/how-apply/photos.html), providing 2x2-inch (51x51mm) window, a vertical center guide, and min/max guides for head size/positioning. (It may be usable for other countries as well, but please exercise your due diligence to verify the applicable regulations) Simply place the template over your headshot, position it using the notched guides and run a knife along the window to get a perfectly compliant passport photo to submit along with your paper application. If your head extends beyond the outside guidelines or fits within the inside ones, it would probably be a good idea to reprint/retake the photo in a corrected size to minimize the risk of any complications during your application process. Hopefully, this would be the last time you will ever have to use this because you will be doing this online by the time your passport expires next time (why we are not there already, I'll never know).
