The majestic USS Independence Carrier, 1/1800th scale model, where certain components take creative liberties with the real-life scale. Built atop a modified Cleveland-class cruiser hull, nine magnificent light aircraft carriers took to the seas during WWII. Sadly, one was lost at sea, and eight remaining were laid to rest post-war. Noticeably absent from their arsenal: any conventional naval firepower – antiaircraft guns being their only defense mechanism. Thirty-five nimble aircraft found their temporary home aboard these majestic warships. As I continually curate my collection of WWII maritime might, keep your eyes peeled for future additions. A timely update, dated August 27, 2019, saw the incorporation of added detailing, with all the finesse a 0.1mm layer height with a 0.4mm nozzle affords, courtesy of the PLA (Printer Layout Architecture) test bed.
