1/1800th scale Gato-class Submarine model, representing the class in reduced form. The first mass-produced US submarines were part of the Gato class, and 77 total units were constructed between 1940 and 1944. The initial commission took place in 1943, and this class saw some limited service towards the end of World War II. This model is designed and engineered at a scale of 1/1800th for practical reasons, though upscaling or downscaling may be possible if desired. Nonetheless, scaling the design outside of its optimal range can compromise its details, leading to reduced accuracy in printing larger versions; however, key features like gun barrels and mast have been intentionally enlarged to make up for this. This is an installment from my personal collection of historical warships, which continues to expand; keep an eye out for more entries in the near future. If you would like me to include a specific type of vessel, kindly send a message so it may be incorporated into the series according to priority. Update 13 Aug 19: The waterline on this model has been readjusted to bring it closer in alignment with historical data and specifications. Extensive testing under PLA at a layer height of .08mm along with a nozzle diameter of .4mm helped optimize this design for maximum quality output.
