The USS Lexington in the collection of models of warships is one model designed at a scale of 1/1800th of its actual size. Some features, however, are not proportionate to their actual counterparts on an aircraft carrier. In a span of five years from 1941 to 1946, there was the highest number of Essex class commissioned warships at twenty-four vessels. Today four survivors remain standing; these are Yorktown, Hornet, Lexington and Intrepid among them all three carry names that other lost carriers shared in wartime struggles.
