The DSRV-1 Mystic is an advanced Deep Submergence Rescue Vehicle, capable of plunging as far down as 5,000 feet (1,500 meters). The US Navy commissioned Lockheed to construct the Mystic, with construction costs totaling $41 million. On January 24, 1970, the vessel was launched. It wasn't until 1977 that it reached full operational readiness and was officially named the Mystic.
