US Buffalo Nickel
sketchfab
This is a Buffalo or Indian Head Nickle that was minted from 1913 to 1938 in the United States. The date on it has worn away, making it hard to read, but the features closer to the center are still intact and visible. I think that's really cool because if it were perfect, it wouldn't look like a real coin from the past. I enjoy showing these kinds of things because many people, including Americans, don't know much about US history. Looking at the dates on this Nickle shows that they were only made for 25 years and there's a reason why that is. There has been controversy surrounding this coin, but anything seen as a misdeed can be easily excused. One of the two rear designs of the 2005 Nickel was done respectfully and with the consultation of some Native American tribes, and it's a direct throwback to this historic coin.
