Here are the four South Dakota Class battleships that the US Navy commissioned in 1942. These ships packed nine massive 16 inch guns along with an impressive array of secondary firepower. They boasted a unique combination of space efficiency and better armor, allowing them to be smaller yet still pack a heavier punch compared to their North Carolina class predecessors. The South Dakota Class battleships served extensively throughout the war in both Atlantic and Pacific theaters. There are two surviving ships from this iconic class; USS Massachusetts, which still proudly carries its historic designation, and USS Alabama, an equally legendary vessel. This model represents a miniature rendition of the USS Indiana, a South Dakota Class ship. The intricate design and testings were done at 1/1800th scale, yet can be scaled up or down depending on your preference. Keep in mind that while possible to up-scale and down-scale, larger versions may not render the same level of detail due to the enlarged gun barrels and mast. Additionally, several tweaks have been made to enhance model compatibility with slicers and printing software. Some recent adjustments have also been made to this design: * On September 19th, issues related to architectural aspects of the design were resolved to prevent any problems that some slicers might encounter. * The following November, a more recent and efficient printing protocol was incorporated into the model to improve overall print quality and performance. * And in late September, added features included miniature boats, anchor chains, along with tweaks for enhanced printability. Note: For the best results, this model is designed and optimized specifically at 1/1800th scale. However, it is not recommended to use any other scale since most details might become obscured or distorted if the gun barrels or mast were increased beyond their standard proportions. The best experience can be achieved when printing using PLA filament at .1mm layer height combined with a .4mm nozzle
