US 100 Tons Roller Bearing Truck 1/32 - OpenRailway
thingiverse
1/32 scale model of a massive 100 ton roller bearing truck with axles mounted on precision ball bearings and working springs, designed for use in heavy-duty applications. This design is part of a larger project: a 50' heavy-duty flatcar featuring four trucks, each engineered to withstand the rigors of demanding rail cars. These versatile trucks are widely used across various rail car models, making them suitable for diverse purposes. Print Settings: Printer: Vertex K8400 Rafts: No Supports: No Resolution: 0.1 mm Infill: 35% Notes: The entire model is printed in ABS using a 0.35 mm nozzle and features a sturdy 0.6 mm wall thickness with 35% infill. Post-Printing: Begin by removing the tiny supports on the lower middle plate of the Side Frame, utilizing a small cutter blade to smooth out the surface – essential for inserting the lower part of the springs. For optimal results, use precision ball bearings measuring 3x7x3 mm for the axles. The axles themselves are crafted from high-quality stainless steel rods, each measuring 61 mm in length. An alternative version of the Side Frame eliminates the need for ball bearings, utilizing longer 63 mm axles instead. The springs can be sourced from cheap ball-pens and should have a diameter ranging from 4 to 4.5 mm, with lengths around 10 mm. To ensure optimal strength, select springs that fit these specifications. The brake shoes are carefully glued to the brake beam, which is then attached to the bolster (raised side up).
