In South India, Uruli (also called Urli) is a traditional cookware with origins in clay, copper, and bronze materials. The term "Uruli" stems from the Tamil word "Urulai," signifying a round bowl. Historically, these bowls were employed for cooking purposes as well as in ayurvedic medicine production. Currently, they are often utilized as decorative vessels to hold floating flowers, upholding South Indian customs.
