URSA Bear CVD Axle input rework
thingiverse
Human: Zxcvbn did an excellent job crafting CV joints for the Ursa Bear truck, but I discovered that some parts had tolerance issues. This led to excessive play between gears, which can cause damage to the bevel gears on the input shaft. The gears can also jam and split the top cover of the axle case. This rework addresses four main concerns: 1) Tightened the tolerance of the input shaft bearings back to 11.9mm, matching the original specifications from Tahustvedt, ensuring a snug fit that eliminates wiggling caused by excessive play. 2) Decreased the backlash between bevel gears by 0.1mm, tightening them up and increasing gear face mesh to prevent skipping and broken tooth damage. 3) Added two rings around the 1.75-2mm shaft for the CV Joint, allowing you to install a pin and then add an R-09 O-ring over it. This optional feature helps keep the pin from falling out if it's loose. You can also use alternative materials like rubber bands or super glue. 4) Achieved zero tolerance between the bevel gear hex shaft and the CV input body, eliminating play completely with a bit of hammering required during installation.
