Urban Forest Novatrope
thingiverse
A 3D Zoetrope designed using the Fibonacci sequence and golden spiral. This sculpture was intended to be reminiscent of skyscrapers, and was called "Horizon Scrapers" before we landed on its final name.https://youtu.be/KSjDgR8B6nQhttps://youtu.be/JJ4OUNcJtZYThe mounting point is designed for a standard snap-locking DVD motor. It is designed with bottom slots to allow light into the chamber, which is a feature of our Hex Strobe Docks and Wooden Strobe Docks. It was then printed in Natural clear PLA to allow light to diffuse through the plastic from within. If designing a motorized strobe dock of your own, it can also be printed in a colored plastic and bathed under white or colored strobe lights from above. Strobe Docks can also be purchased on our website at https://www.novatropes.comThe sculpture should be rotated at around 900 RPM, with a strobe frequency of ~40 Hz and a duty cycle between 0.5 and 2% (lower is better, but will decrease brightness). Brightness can be increased by over-volting your LEDs, which is only safe at very low duty cycles (over-volting will burn out LEDs if left on for more than a second so be careful).
