Urban building

Urban building

thingiverse

A futuristic skyscraper model / presence lamp. Crafted to be laser-cut, from 3mm MDF sheets. You'll need a dual AAA battery case, small on/off switch, 2 LEDs and a tiny M3 screw for the case lid. The battery box assembly is remarkably similar to "Cube Lamp", use diluted white glue with water to assemble it securely. You'll also have to attach a thin sheet of colored paper to the sides. Update (August 2019) New instructions are in place; all laser-cut files now come in dxf R12 ASCII format: you have three files, each differing only in their kerf* compensation: 0 : no kerf compensation at all; 015: all notches are compensated by 0.15mm; 020: same thing, 0.20mm. kerf is the amount of material lost during the cutting process. To avoid using glue and ensure correct assembly, this kerf is accounted for in the vector file itself. To cut and assemble the model, use the 015kerf file or the 020kerf if your laser has a wider cut. If you want to make significant modifications to the file, it's advisable to use the 0kerf file instead. Enjoy building!
