The most celebrated camera of all time is undoubtedly the Leica, with a price tag that's unmatched in history. If you own a 35mm camera, you can thank this iconic device for setting the standard back in 1914. The Ur-Leica represents a groundbreaking moment in photography's past. It was the prototype for the first line of cameras to use film in the 24 x 36mm format, which would eventually become the 35mm standard for photographic film and modern full-frame camera sensors – named after the width of 24 x 36mm film including the perforations. By switching from large photographic plates to 35mm film, photographers were able to create cameras that were significantly smaller and more portable, making outdoor photography and handheld shooting a breeze. The Ur-Leica was printed using Carbon Fibre (black parts) and Silk PLA (brass parts). For the viewfinder hinges, consider using cotton bud sticks. Once the lighting improves, photos of this masterpiece will be shared. Check back tomorrow – February 21st. If you decide to print this design, please give it your best shot. An updated version is on its way as soon as time permits, but for now, it's just okay and needs improvement. Due to problems uploading to Thingiverse, an alternative site may be used if issues persist.
