Upright diplomas with acrylic bender
thingiverse
I created these diplomas for a fun event where kids aged 5-15 years old were celebrating. It was my first try using an acrylic bender, and I'm excited to share the results with you. The text is printed on A5 size paper, and two scoring lines indicate exactly where to bend the acrylic sheet. To shape the acrylic into a perfect arc, simply heat it for 8 minutes on the outside of the curve, and it will easily bend up to 210 degrees. I used a similar bender that you can find on Amazon by searching for "Acrylic Lightbox Thickness Infrared Calibration" - no affiliation with the seller, just including the link as an example. What I'm most proud of is how useful this design turned out to be in teaching others about bending acrylic sheets. If you want to engrave the text onto the diploma itself, remember to flip it horizontally before printing. One important note: when using this design, keep in mind that every pixel represents one millimeter of physical space.
