My printers were converted from Bowdeen to Direct and still had the spool on the side generating a lot of vibration. So I designed a part to put the spool as close to the extruder as possible. This part is placed as shown in the pictures and the spool is placed on the top of the printer. The advantages of this arrangement are: Better weight distribution on the top and not on the side. Less vibration. Savings on Teflon hose. Less friction and less effort by the extruder to pull the filament. Less space on the sides, so printers can be placed closer together.
