Upper Body of a Girl Statue

Chalkedon (Turkey) was acquired in Istanbul back in 1907. Marble from this time period dates back around 550 BC. The girl's locks are secured by a wide band that is heavily decorated with meanders and there is rosette-shaped jewelry gracing her ears. Her eyes are wide open, and the garment style bears a strong resemblance to Greek mainland workshops. The sculpting technique itself is fresh yet distinctly provincial in character. This particular object is part of "Scan The World". Scan the World is a non-profit initiative brought forth by MyMiniFactory, through which we are creating a digital archive of fully 3D printable sculptures, artworks and landmarks from all over the globe for everyone to access completely free.
