I originally designed a cover and wheel to keep my solder dust free and still be able to rotate the inside axle of the spool holder. Then later I whipped up some quick and dirty guides to keep the solder from hopping the reel. These were sufficient, but there wasn't enough clamping force with the wheel so it didn't always work very well

So I went back and redesigned a combined wheel and guide, that could be screwed onto the wheel and ride on the metal axle. All while still working with the original dust cover.

So to that end, that's what we have here.

Once the two halves are printed, you simply screw them together until they're clamping down on the solder spool (don't tighten too much). Then you insert the axle and slide it into the base. Add the cover and voilà, you've got a place to keep your solder dust free and ready when you need it.

Now the downside, this present design only works for .45kg (1 lb) reels with at least a 26mm opening. So it's perfect for a spool of MG Chemicals solder, but is too large for the new reel of Kester solder I've got up next.

So I'll need to come up with a different design for spools with smaller openings. More on that later.

Printing Notes

Sliced for PETG and a .4mm Nozzle.

Prints without supports.
