Upgraded filament control for MMU2
cults3d
This is a upgraded version of the MMU2 filament control (attempt 1) by pmeyer. NEW FEATURES: .) Added holes on the back side the keep the acrylic sheets in place. .) Added part "Plates holder" which is also screwed to the acrylic and is used to lift up all plates at once. .) Both parts feature holes for small magnets to keep the acrylic from lifting off by its own when standing at an angle. .) Trimmed down bottom to minimize material use. .) Minor widening of some holes and filament guides. My print setting and further modification I've done in PrusaSlicer can be found in the attached .3mf file. The print will stop at the right time for you to insert the magnets. Once finished place the acrylic sheets in the right place and drill through the holes in the back and from the plates holder. I used long 3 mm screws to hold them in place. Afterwards I made a stand for it out of wood at a 45° angle. For me this was necessary, because otherwise it caused too much drag. Note that if you don't have any magnets at home you can use the handle of the plates holder and a rubber band to keep it in place. I have used this for more than 50 prints now (approx. 10 of them were multi material) and I am really happy with it. My magnets are a bit on the weaker side so one time the acrylic sheets were lifting up by themselves after I bumped the table. Also, I would add a part which hinders the filament from going out to the back side and getting caught on the edges of the acrylic, but this doesn't happen during normal use. Otherwise I didn't have any issues with it. Other UPGRADES for the MMU2S I use and recommend: "Prusa MMU2 Selector with magnet and opened FINDA canal ver. E2 - stock magnet 2×6×10" mm" by darBis https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4104419 It is probably the single most important upgrade for the MMU2S from my point of view. "Prusa MMU2S Rear PTFE Holder" by iwagner https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3657251 This is a very nice print to keep things tidy. Enjoy.
