Upgraded Anet A8 cooling fan duct
thingiverse
Hi everyone! I'm uploading a copy of the anet A8 cooling fan duct that I designed and a redesign to repair the nozzle from being hit by cooling air. You can see comparison images to spot the difference. For a long time now, I've been using circular fan ducts but even at 100% fan speed the cooling air was just too diffused to have fast filament cooling. With this design, the cooling air blows are way more concentrated. I was able to raise printing temperatures and decrease fan speeds (50%), still having great cooling. The result is stronger prints due to higher printing temperatures, better overhang surfaces and no rising edges due to more concentrated air blows, and less noise because of lower fan speeds. I'm very happy with how it turned out. If you're using a circular or semicircular fan duct, keep in mind that this duct will require a higher nozzle temperature since the cooling effect on the nozzle will be more significant than in diffused-blow ducts. Hopefully, this will be useful to others too! If you like my designs, you can follow me on Instagram where I often post upgrades on my work! My Instagram profile is engineli_3d.
