Upgrade for Cowtech 3D Scanner: Laser Holders and Rotative Plate
thingiverse
If you're looking to upgrade your scanner, be aware that one $99 option ultimately cost an additional $30 for assembly and $38 for shipping and broker fees. Upgrade 1: Replacing the bearing holder plate with a direct drive system significantly improves angular position accuracy. To install it, simply place the bearing in the new part and press fit it onto the motor shaft. The plastic part has a flat side to match the motor shaft's flat side, making alignment straightforward. After testing, this upgrade eliminates any sensible transmission issues. Upgrade 2: Installing a new laser holder expands angular adjustment capabilities. The original holder restricts movement, causing problems with centering the laser line on the rotative plate. This issue might be related to short acrylic arms in the kit. To fix it, reuse the CTScanner-Laser_Core_1 and insert it into the new part. The holes for screws are present but not needed. Upgrade 3: A third upgrade is in development – a 3D scanner top part that will give the product a more polished appearance.
