Updated Prusa i3 Mk2/Mk2S/Mk2.5 Y distance
thingiverse
This is an updated version of the Y motor spacer, also known as "y distance" by Prusa. The original Mk2 model came out without this part, and the stress on the Y motor holder could cause it to bend or even crack under pressure. In the Mk2S kit, Prusa added "y distance," which was designed to solve this problem once and for all. I recently built another Mk2S printer and found that the provided "y distance" spacer was too thin, resulting in a subpar solution. Ideally, the Y motor should be perfectly parallel to the threaded rods when it rests on the spacer, but with the original part, it wasn't quite aligned, causing tension from the belt to bend the Y motor holder further. I created this updated spacer with the correct thickness and a beefier pad for the Y motor to rest on comfortably. To add an extra layer of convenience, I copied the cable notch design from the kit part, which is a thoughtful touch that keeps cables organized. However, I tweaked the position of the notch slightly downward, ensuring it aligns perfectly with the position of my printer's cable, resulting in a more streamlined setup.
