*Updated Pen Plotter Attachment
thingiverse
This problem has been experimented before, but a more elegant solution is needed for attaching pens or pencils to a Makerbot. Previously, I just used hot glue to attach a marker to my extruder. However, I have updated the design with an extra piece that can be printed and secured using rubber bands. This piece allows the pen/tool to move slightly for better contact with the surface while still allowing it to be lifted off when starting a new line. To assemble, print two of each part and use 2 m3x30mm and 2 m3x16mm screws (or equivalent). Attach the extra piece by clamping it around the top of the pen with 2 m3x30mm screws and reduce tension in the main body. Finally, test the G-code to draw cool patterns using the updated design.
