Updated 2/21/15 Shapeoko 2 Dust Shoe
thingiverse
This innovative dust shoe attaches to the X axis gantry instead of the spindle mount. By doing this, the spindle remains free to move along the Z axis without raising or lowering the entire dust shoe. It cleverly fastens to the back side of the X axis gantry in the unused slot hole. To secure it in place, a bolt and wing nut are employed. The objective here was to create a shoe that wouldn't require any modifications to either the Shapeoko 2 or the spindle mount. This versatile dust collector is compatible with printers boasting a 6" x 9" (150 x 250 mm) printer bed - Flashforge, Original Makerbot, and clones included. In its design, the shoe's bottom and hose adapter snap effortlessly into place without any need for glue. However, super glue secures the mount firmly in position. Notably, the hose adapter seamlessly accommodates a standard shop vac hose. An additional version of the mount part includes a relief cut to facilitate clearance for a nut, eliminating the need for tools when utilizing wing nuts. To cater to users' needs, another attachment (an obj file) has been provided - users can edit it within most 3D graphics programs like Blender if desired or needed changes to the dust shoe design.
