Update 12-19/2015 J-tech Shapeoko 2 laser mount
thingiverse
Here's my updated version of the J-tech laser mount for my Shapeoko 2 spindle mount, a mod of the original mount available on the J-tech website. As an update to my original design, I added a control box. My Shapeoko is a 1000mm size, and I found that the factory leads from the controller to the laser weren't long enough to route them away from the cutting area. Instead of cutting these wires to lengthen them, I made a control box that attaches to the top spindle mount just above the laser. With this setup, the laser and controller move together seamlessly, making it easy to remove them when using the spindle for routing/cutting as needed. I wanted to create a more efficient system, allowing me to focus on the task at hand without any interruptions. In response to feedback from users, I updated the design with an all-new feature - a two-part mount version that allows you to easily detach the J-tech laser. This new addition features a simple clip mechanism that securely holds the part together. With this improvement, I was able to raise the laser by 5mm above the spindle collet, achieving two major benefits. Firstly, the collet protects the laser from any accidental hits against the work surface in case of errors or mishaps during operations. Secondly, positioning the laser at an optimal distance of 1.2 inches (30mm) from the work surface improves performance significantly. **Printer Settings** * **Machine**: Flashforge Creator Original Duel * **Rafting**: Not used in this print * **Supports**: None needed * **Layer Resolution**: Set to 0.2 for fine details and high accuracy * **Infill Percentage**: Set at 30% for a strong yet lightweight structure
