Upcycled spool for filament refill
thingiverse
Design an empty spool for effortless filament refills. Required components: - Empty filament spool - 3 threaded rods M4, cut to a length of approximately 10mm longer than the spool width - 6 M4 nuts (self-securing ones work well) - 3 printed spool clamps with pockets for M4 nuts - 3 printed spool clamps (counterparts) Begin by cutting an empty filament spool into two equal halves. My spool had a weld, making it easy to cut along using a hacksaw. Next, insert the M4 nuts into the spool clamps and screw in the threaded rods securely. Place the refill filament into the spool, securing the ends in the provided holes. Close the spool with the other half, fitting the spool clamp counterparts and fastening the assembly with the remaining M4 nuts. Finally, cut away any zip ties and you're ready to print.
