[upcycle] RasPiWeather - weather forecast dashboard from RasPi 1
thingiverse
Re-using the old 1st gen Raspberry Pi as a weather forecast station (connected to internet via LAN cable). Apart from the 3D printed case, one needs to set-up the weather station screen - I used the great Weather Forecast Dashboard made by vlaine: https://github.com/vlaine/Weather-Forecast-Dashboard and also it is necessary to start the browser in a kiosk mode, so after starting the RasPi, the weather data are shown directly with no need to open a browser. Some hints how to do it can be found here https://maker-tutorials.com/en/auto-start-midori-browser-in-fullscreen-kiosk-modus-raspberry-pi-linux/ or just google 'Raspberry pi kiosk mode' The screen used is 3.2in RPi LCD V4 from WaveShare I had lying around unused. And the RasPi is fixed to the outer frame with one M3x8 screw. The top and bottom frame is also fixed with a use of two M3x8 screws. The threads are just tapped since no loading of the threads are expected (just static holding of the pieces together, no dynamic loading so tapping should work fine)
