UP Plus 2 Fan Deflector

UP Plus 2 Fan Deflector

The wind barrier on my UP Plus 2 has always struggled to work effectively. Substantial air leaks occurred whenever I used the ABS setting to redirect airflow away from the part on the bed. To solve this problem, I redesigned the fan deflector to be much more efficient while still allowing me to switch between ABS and PLA settings. The result exceeded my expectations. In the ABS setting, the airflow is almost still near the extruder nozzle, yet substantial flow continues through the extruder cooler and away from the part. When switching to the PLA setting, the full air flow is directed past the extruder cooling fins and toward the part. I also shortened the overall height of the Fan Deflector housing so that it aligns with the bottom of both the original extruder hot end cover and my previously submitted redesigned extruder cover. This component should be printed with its bottom side facing flat on the platform bed. Update: I removed the original file and replaced it with a revised version featuring minor refinements to the Fan Deflector. The wall thickness was increased by 0.005 inches, and the pivot shaft clearance was also enhanced by 0.005 inches. These changes resulted in slightly better performance and stability. 11/23/19: I uploaded the UP Plus Fan Deflector2.STL file, which is identical to the updated version but includes deflector position marks and "ABS" text for the closed position.
