UP! MINI spool holder
thingiverse
I was using a spool holder that I found on Thingiverse, but it didn't quite meet my standards. The tolerance between the clip and the rear wall of the enclosure was too loose, and that was a major issue for me. This new design fits snugly into the existing hole on the back of the enclosure and comes off easily when needed. Its length accommodates any spool size I have, which is helpful since I'm always experimenting with different ABS manufacturers to find my favorite. I've tried several brands so far, resulting in a collection of various spool sizes. After printing the original design, I created a lighter version that uses less plastic without compromising its structural integrity. Although I haven't printed the lightweight model yet, it seems like every design I create is a work in progress as I continually make modifications. My new spool holder no longer shifts towards the outside of the spindle, which was causing jams. Printing this design with support may result in some waste, but it eliminates problems clearing the gap where it grips the enclosure. I'd love to hear your thoughts on this design! Keep pushing the boundaries of what's possible.
