Install an extruder mount designed to accommodate a Nema 17 stepper motor instead of the original Nema 14 stepper, and make sure you read through the directions. Instructions To begin with, it's essentially a direct bolt-in procedure; however, the longer motor necessitates a modified magnet mounting system. To achieve precise positioning for this new Nema 17 motor, carefully reposition the rear magnet on your existing mag mount to be 5mm further back than usual. At first glance, all seems good - my experiments show that this upgrade runs remarkably cooler compared to the original Nema 14 stepper. Furthermore, despite some differences in length and a modified shaft with a keyway, you can simply swap the gear from the old motor onto its familiar position on your upgraded assembly, trimming away the excessive shaft with a quality hacksaw for an optimal fit.
