Up-cycled Prusament Spool Rain Fountain

<p>After using a lot of filament for making PPE I was looking for something to do with the empty spools and had this idea to make a rain fountain. The point is to make a pleasing rain sound, It does this very well.</p> <p>Video\Sound of it working<br/> <figure class="media"> <oembed url="https://youtu.be/sWuvLqXES1k"></oembed> </figure> </p> <p>This design uses 1.5" ID PVC water pipe about 48mm OD and end cap that fits it. The piece I used is about 3ft (about a meter, any length will work but if you go longer you will need a bigger pump.) long and a 80GPH (anything stronger that is variable would be fine) fountain pump. How you attach the pipe to the pump will vary depending on the pump, you just need to get it attached at some point along the pipe so that the pump is under water. In all this was only about $20USD worth of parts, not including something to use as the basin (I tested it in a storage tote I use for storing filament).</p> <p>The pipe was painted black to match the spools and each piece was glued on with a small amount of 5min epoxy or super glue.</p> <h3>Print instructions</h3><p>None of the parts are complicated to print, I did all of them in prusament petg. The alternate top makes the water move to edge more but you get more splatter out of the sides.</p> <p>Print 1 set of rings for each spool half.</p> <p>Top spool half can either have a ring set with alt_top or the top set.</p> <p>One ring goes on the bottom of the spool, one on the top this allows the spool half to rotate as needed.</p> <p>The braces work for the pot i put it in, they may be useless to anyone else. They are only needed if you don't want to glue the feet to the inside of your pot.</p>
