Up Box / Box+ Spool Extender

Up Box / Box+ Spool Extender

I have a Tiertime Up Box+ that I use nearly exclusively for printing ABS models. It works incredibly well for this task without any failures or warping at all so far. Overall, I am thoroughly pleased with this printer, but there are a couple small details that needed improving. The original Up Box was designed to use Tiertime's exclusive 500kg filament rolls. When they came out with the Up Box+, they made a larger spool cover that allowed the use of aftermarket 1000kg filament spools. They included a funky spool extension that was very detailed but not very functional. The other day it fell off behind my desk, and I didn't feel like digging for it. Instead, I set out to make the improvement I always wanted but never had an excuse to make. The main part file is a snap-on spool extension for the Up Box+, that still allows the use of the oversized spool cover that came with the printer. I also made a snap-in adapter to contain the spool when used with the older Up Box, without the oversized spool cover. The Up Box+ Spool Extender part is meant to snap on to the existing stock spool holder of either Up Box or Up Box+. It is intended to stay in place but can easily be removed if needed. The Up Box Adapter is meant to snap into the Spool Extender by pushing in and rotating until it snaps in place. It can be removed by pressing the tabs and twisting in either direction, then pulled out to change filament spools. When making either part, they are both intended to be placed on the printer bed with the outer diameter surface facing down. Minimal supports will be generated, and both parts are easy to post-process. No sanding or smoothing is required.
