This is the 2D net of an icosahedron or a 3D icosahedron unwrapped. I then added in the equivalent volume for each segment of the relative part so it can become a solid 3D object again. This is designed to have fabric inserted into the part, which acts as a hinge.

Print Settings

Printer Brand:

Anycubic

Printer:

Kossel

Rafts:

No

Supports:

No

Resolution:

0.1

Infill:

25

Filament:
any PLA any

Notes:

When printing on fabric do not use a raft unless you must. The bonding between the fabric and printed material can be weaker than the connection to the raft.
When placing material I used a low tack, repositionable, spray adhesive. You can find this in any craft store.

To get a good bond make the base 6-8 layers thick and place the sheet between layers 3-5. If you use multiple sheets leave at least two printed layers between the fabric for improved results but your experimenting may prove different. Enjoy.

Category: Math Art
