They were standing there, looking at each other, their faces frozen in time. She was a woman, tall and strong, her eyes locked onto his, her hands clenched into fists. He was a man, his jaw set, his eyes narrowed, his body tense. They stood there for what felt like an eternity, the air thick with tension between them. She took a step forward, her feet heavy on the ground, her eyes never leaving his face. He didn't move, didn't blink, his gaze fixed on hers. The world around them melted away, leaving only the two of them, locked in a silent struggle. Her hand shot out, her fingers brushing against his chest, sending sparks flying through both of their bodies. He felt it too, a jolt of electricity that ran down his spine and back up again. They stood there for another moment, frozen in time, the only sound the beating of their hearts. Then, without warning, he was gone. She was left standing alone, her eyes scanning the empty space where he had been. The world snapped back into focus, and she felt a pang of regret wash over her.
