This UNSC device makes its first appearance in the mid-mission cutscene of 343 Guilty Spark from Halo: Combat Evolved. As a door hacking tool, it gives players direct access to the Forerunner structure seen throughout the game. A prop of this device was custom-modeled specifically for use with a 5th generation iPod Video, paired with an LCD screen and component input capabilities sourced directly from the iPod itself. The keypad section remains unrendered in order to make way for the addition of back-lit keys later on. Strategically placed holes also enable small magnets to easily remove the access panel whenever needed.
