The UNSC Armadale was an early frigate design, and it was constructed at the Osborne Naval Shipyards in southern Australia. Unfortunately for the Armadale, its main guns positioned on both port and starboard sides caused severe cracking when fired, which could leave the ship vulnerable to enemy fire. The high cost of a refit made it impossible to justify, so the Armadale was sent to the Reach ship graveyard to await break-up. Despite its small size at 390 meters long, the Armadale proved itself capable in fleet engagements, showing that even the smallest ships can hold their own against larger vessels.
