Unorthodox Chessmen, Weighted
thingiverse
This is a series of unorthodox chessmen for use in certain chess variants such as Musketeer Chess, Hiashatar, and Chess with Different Armies. Also known as fairy chessmen, these pieces are based on my simplified Staunton chessmen. Note that this project is currently less mature than that orthodox project. In particular, the threads are known to be wrong and some parts' roofs will need a bit more support. ### Completed Designs: - Corinthian Pawn - a pawn with a helmet; may be used as a superpawn, bodyguard, or simply a cool-looking substitute for a standard pawn - Monk - a pawn-size hooded character - Raptor - featured in various chess variants as a hawk, falcon, or eagle - Unicorn - used in Musketeer Chess, knight-like but a bit more powerful - Cannon - for Musketeer Chess ### Planned Designs: - Elephant/Alfil - used in Musketeer Chess and other variants, or in place of the bishop - Hussar - a Polish winged knight for games which feature a flying knight - Jester - Leopard - Short Rook - a limited-range rook, as featured in Chess with Different Armies - Short Knight - for use in any game which must distinguish two levels of knight, such as a standard knight and a weaker charging knight ### Likely Future Designs: - Archer - Axeman - Bull - Cardinal/Archbishop - Dragon - Eye (of Providence, Horus, or Ra) - Fortress - Griffin - Lion - Mammoth - Musketeer - Prince - Princess - Rhinoceros - Spider - Swordsman - Wizard - Wolf ### Other Possible Future Designs: - Bear - Cat - Chancellor - Chariot - Colonel - Crocodile - Demon - Druid - Duke - General - Genie - Giraffe - Glider - Goose - Gorilla - Guardian - Lieutenant - Lioness - Mouse - Rabbit - Raven - Serpent - Tiger - Vampire - Warrior
