Unlocking Jedi Holocron
pinshape
This is a replica of the unlocking Jedi Holocron as seen in Star Wars: The Clone Wars Animated. It changes between locked and unlocked configurations due to the magnets installed in its corners. The prop consists of one core, eight corner pieces, six side pieces, and eight angle sides. Post-Printing: After printing I drilled bore holes in each of the corner pieces and the core piece corners, then superglued a small Rare Earth magnet in place. (Diagram in the last picture). Next, I painted it with black paint, then covered it in rub 'n buff or gold paint. I cut acrylic panels to cover the inside of the core on all 14 sides. Leaving a small lip on each panel allowed me to glue them to the inside edge. I roughed up the inside surface of the panels and sprayed them with transparent blue Tamiya spray paint, then glued them into place from the inside out. Glueing external panels to the sides and angle sides was followed by attaching the corners in place, which will be held by the magnets. Alternatively, you can glue the corners in place in the desired position, locked or unlocked instead of installing the magnets.
