Unlockable loose Filament Spool

Unlockable loose Filament Spool

thingiverse

Tons of loose filament samples are a real problem - they get tangled up and you don't want to have a separate spool for each one. Changing a sample requires unwinding and rewinding the filament, which is a hassle. With this 3D-printable spool, you can unlock it and simply remove the sample. The spool is fully 3D-printable and easy to assemble without any additional screws - just snap it together. Its diameter is also adjustable. A Snap-Fit design was re-used from makesea.com. Here are some tips for handling loose filament: Always rotate the spool when winding or unwinding the filament to avoid twists. Fix some tape as a label at the end of the filament and note relevant print settings. Keep the start of the filament away from the spool to prevent tangling or over-crossing. Use a filament cleaning sponge for printing, as loose filament quickly collects dust.
