Unlimbited hand wiring accessory to insure a 30° angle

thingiverse

This device is designed to simplify the process of wiring an Unlimbited Phoenix hand. It keeps pins at the precise distance required, allowing the gauntlet and hand to form a 30° angle once the pins are secured in the tensioner, making wiring more manageable. The device comes in two variations: one with a plain design that may be too tight due to the palm top being printed as a bridge. If it doesn't fit on the hand you're mounting, try the hollowed-out version, which will provide a better fit but requires additional supports for printing. First, run the unattached wire for the thumb through the hand, followed by the one for the index finger and then the ring finger. Pass these wires through this device and clip it onto the back edge of the hand, ensuring that the wire holes match those on the hand. Secure the thumb wire to the first pin and insert the pin into the device in the first slot, located near the thumb. Make sure to push it all the way down into its slot. Next, pass each of the remaining two wires through their respective pins and back through the device into the hand, connecting them to the middle and little fingers. Insert the pins into the device. Secure the wires to the thumb and all four fingers while keeping tension on the wires. Remove the pins from the device (you'll need to fold your fingers for this) and place them in the gauntlet tensioner. Attach the gauntlet to the hand, slide the tensioner in, and adjust it using the pin screws. When printed vertically as shown in the STL file, no supports should be needed. I printed mine at 20% infill and 0.2mm layers. Scale it according to how you scaled the hand. Since this device is tightly adjusted, make sure the "ceiling" of the hand is clean. If there's any hanging wire, remove it through post-processing so that you can clip the device in place. Developed based on an idea by Thierry Oquidam from E-nable France, its use is documented here: https://e-nable.fr/fabriquer/les-tendons/#cablage3
