Laurent Delvaux (1696 in Ghent - February 24, 1778, in Nivelles) was a Flemish sculptor who achieved success on the international stage with his career taking him to London and Rome. He eventually returned to the Austrian Netherlands where he served as a court sculptor. Delvaux played a pivotal role bridging the Baroque and Neo-classicism periods. Delvaux crafted a set of twelve busts featuring Roman emperors in Brussels' Warandepark, which have been permanently on display since 1782. The sculptures are arranged around a fountain carved from white marble with their armor made of jasper-colored marble. Over time, the faces of the statues have become almost unrecognizable due to severe weathering. This item is part of "Scan The World."
