"Universal" T Mount for Rear Bicycle Lights

This is a versatile mounting system designed specifically for bicycle rear rack lights. It effortlessly attaches to rear racks featuring a vertical mounting plate, complete with two horizontally aligned holes spaced 50 mm apart or two vertically aligned holes separated by 18 mm. The true brilliance of this innovative design lies in its ability to accommodate multiple brands of rear lights! It seamlessly works with NiteRider Solas, Viewpoint, and Planet Bike Superflash tail lights. The secret behind making this mount compatible with various brands was carefully experimenting with the dimensions of the slide rails and incorporating two locking pins on a flexible release lever. The top pin perfectly aligns with NiteRider and Viewpoint lights, while the lower pin securely engages with Planet Bike lights. Although it may not be entirely universal, this adaptable design beats purchasing separate mounts from individual suppliers only to switch them out when using different lights. Like many projects of its kind, I created this design based on a single sample each from NiteRider, Planet Bike, and Viewpoint lights in my collection. As with any production design, there may be slight variations from the manufacturers that could result in an imperfect fit with this mount.
