Universal stand-alone filament spool holder (Fully 3D-printable)
thingiverse
A completely 3D-printable rotating stand for filament spools is designed to be easily made without requiring fasteners such as screws, nuts, shafts, glue, etc. Every single component in this spool holder comes right from your 3D printer's filament. The spool holder's spindle fits the vast majority of commonly used filament spools with shaft holes ranging from 16 mm to 62 mm in diameter and is also compatible with spool-less filament coils. A roller bearing makes the spindle which holds the spool's weight turn effortlessly on its own wheels, allowing it to rotate smoothly. The included spool holder comes equipped with an arm for filament guide tubes of both common sizes 1.75 mm and 3.0 mm. The arm also features a pocket that holds a piece of sponge to act as a filament filter, thus keeping the filament clean and well-lubricated. FEATURES 3D-printing is a breeze No glue or fasteners needed All parts are easy to 3D-print It fits almost any filament spool size A built-in filament filter comes with it! You can also hold spool-less filament coils Base versions are available for standing on flat surfaces or fitting on extruded aluminum profiles The next time you need a new filament spool holder, simply print one! As you already understand this image is not the entire filament spool stand. It shows a crucial part and best practice related to 3D-printing. When developing products, one never knows exactly how things will fit together from the start. The spool stand may take several hours to print, depending on your 3D printer and settings used. Therefore, lengthy product iterations are unnecessary to determine whether changes are needed. In this image, 3D-prints represent parts of the model with fittings that we tested before finalizing their dimensions. By cutting away the smallest volume surrounding these fittings and printing them separately in less time than required for a complete print, we achieved precise fitting results when using CAD models. This approach is ideal for testing overhangs, critical dimensions, material consumption costs, etc. So, don't waste time or filament!
