I loved the concept of the spool stand rather than having to repair the spool on a setup involving screws, extra printed parts to attach to the spool etc. But the stand printed poorly on my equipment for various reasons: - The parts didn't fit as the cylinders were too thick, - The wheels constantly touched the sides which caused jams, - The wheels were small and unless putting a lot of work on smoothing them (with no guarantee about them being balanced etc as I don't have a lathe at home...), - The toes were small, which caused the whole stand to move during printing, even with extra rubber legs, - The filament sometimes scratched the sides and got jammed once in one wheel, because it had no guide. So I decided to improve the original model: - Redesign the holes and cylinders that fit in them, and adding an extra space to make sure the wheels would never go to the sides, - Make the wheels larger, which implies that imperfections matter much less, - Create proper full-length toes, in order to increase the adherence with the surface below, and add a filament guide. Note that when putting the bearings inside the wheels, you will need a hammer of some sort as it is a very tight fit, so that the wheels will never get out to the sides. I have bought cheap silicone hot pads/trivets to put under the stands, and after weeks of printing they have never moved. To print one full stand, you need to print: - Two outer parts (only the correctedholderouter.stl as the SpoolStandOuterPart.stl is only the original that I used for reference), - Two inner parts (correctedholderinner.stl), - Four wheels, - One mytoe_woguide.stl and one mytoe_wiguide.stl. You need to buy the ball bearings, mine are 608 2RS (width 7mm, inner ring 8mm diameter, outer ring 22mm diameter), and I strongly advise some flat rubber or silicone surface under them so that they won't move during printing.
