Universal Spool Hub for OmniStand

Universal Spool Hub for OmniStand

After getting started with my Flashforge Dreamer and printing @BaronWilliams' OmniStands, I was able to use a wide range of 3D filament from different manufacturers. The problem was, they tended to use filament spools of varying depth and diameters. My first attempt at a solution was printing a variety of spool adapters that would fit on the OmniStand rods (see my Customizable Spool Adapter). Then I got tired of keeping track of which adapter goes with which brand of filament/spool. So, I came up with the "Universal" spool adapter you see here! The ID is 20 mm, which will fit on the Omnistand rod. The OD of the hub cap varies from roughly 30 ~ 80 mm diameter, which should allow you to sandwich most 1 kg spools between them. There are a couple of hub cap variants to choose from: v2 - confluent surface, v2.1 - 6 spokes (saves on some filament). My customizable filament spool rod is also available. BaronWilliams' OmniStands include the Top Mount and Internal Side Mount. I also realized after creating this that others had the same idea! You can find similar adapters from other makers below: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1751788, http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1659528, http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1805648. Print Settings: Printer Brand is FlashForge. Printer is FlashForge Creator Pro. Rafts are Yes. Supports are No. Resolution is 0.2. Infill is 20%. Notes: END CAPS You will need to print two end caps, which do not require any supports or rafts. I printed them at 20% infill, but you could go higher if you want a more solid and sturdy cap. SCREW You only need one screw axle. It is about 90 mm in length, which will allow it to fit on the OmniStand Top Mount's 125 mm rod. I print the screw vertically with a raft. The walls of the axle are about 4mm thick, so it should be able to bear some load. I do print with 3 perimeters.
