Universal Spool Holder Remix - no supports or bearings needed

I liked this design, but soon came to realize that using smooth rod instead of threaded rod reveals a crucial flaw - bearings are not needed and tend to unspool themselves due to minimal drag. I took this great design and removed the bearing hole, replacing it with an 8.5mm hole to fit snugly over either threaded or smooth 8mm or 5/16" rods without requiring printing support. As a result, no support is needed, and bearings are unnecessary for these innovative spool adapters! However, this modification required extra effort - when I exported the initial designs, I discovered that simply filling in the hole left internal gaps during slicing. These issues have been addressed, and I added additional steps to refine the design. To my delight, tiny 5DF spools fit perfectly too! This creative project was brought to life using Tinkercad.
