Alec Korecki, Grand Haven HighschoolOne of the most influential factors in the rise of bluetooth audio devices is the mess of cords classic audio devices cause. To remedy this, the redesigned earbud wrap features a rotating mechanism that allows for easy, quick wrapping into a spool shape. The design has three goals: To make the product easier to manufacture by reducing the complexity and number of parts, to make the wrap compatible with different types of earbuds, and to allow for easier wrapping. The intent for the finished design is to consist of only 2 parts and feature more simple and appealing shapes. This should reduce possible manufacturing costs and complexity, lending itself to a lean manufacturing approach. It will also decrease the amount of time needed to 3D print the product, making it more friendly to an FDM 3D printing approach.It’s second goal (to be universal) will be accomplished by removing the lid mechanism entirely and increasing the earbud storage space. This should allow for larger or oddly shaped earbuds to fit. Hopefully, all types of wired earbuds will be compatible with this design.The last goal is to simplify wrapping. In the original product, you had to insert the earbuds, close the lid, and then begin the wrapping. Sometimes, however, the earbuds could get loose inside the container, which led to a large tangle or wrapping failure. This design removes the lid and adds slots to keep the actual buds secure and separate from the cords. This should solve the problem.Type of Printing used: FDM
