Universal sinus rinse adaptor (screw on soda bottle) - Nasal rinse, Neti Pot, Nasendusche
thingiverse
This modified universal bottle cap can convert any bottle into a sinus rinse container. It utilizes the standard 'PCO 1881' threading found in normal soda bottles such as Coca Cola. The only requirement on the bottle is a ventilation hole at the bottom of the bottle to control speed and stop flow by plugging it with your finger. This cap can be printed without supports, since the bottom is bridged with one layer which needs to be removed after printing (drill or knife - easily accessible from the bottom). Print with the bottom on the bed - brim is advisable, as the contact area is quite small. Use a freshly prepared 0.9% sodium chloride solution (sea salt) for effective results. The FDA recommends using distilled water or boiled water (cooled down) for nasal irrigations to eliminate amoebas that may be present in tap water. The Robert-Koch-institute in Germany suggests this procedure for immunodeficient patients, so it will depend on the expected water quality. However, medical guidelines recommend isotonic (0.9%) or hypertonic (2-3 %) saline solution. But don't rely too heavily on Thingiverse for medical advice. A 1/2" threaded version has been added upon request. An adapter for a 12mm inner diameter hose has also been included.
