Universal pin - lifeprooven
thingiverse
A friend of mine came up to me with a problem: a piece of plastic in her Opel Corsa was missing (a hole instead) and the so the cover for the trunk was out of function, means the missing pin was the hinge... No access to the inner side without disassembling the whole car... I remembered the pins for the geared heart etc. and quickly designed one. Just a fe simple steps, everyone can do it: create a cylinder with a diameter bigger than the hole, place another cylinder on it with a diameter a little less than the holes diameter. Add a truncated cone on it. The gap between the first cylinder and the cone equals the thickness of the material. The upper diameter is the diameter of the upper cylinder, the lower diameter is the diameter of the first cylinder. Nearly finished. Use the appropriate function to make it one piece. To slip it in the whole we need to cut gap in the upper part. Done with a cuboid and the "Bool operation". Thats it! If you have a narrow hole it may be nessecary to cut another gap see example! Printed in PLA 50% infill to make it stiff in minutes... Press it with some forche in the hole tip it snaps. Adjust any parameter for your needs. No rocket science but VERY helpful. If you can use it let me know! Instructions Printed it with no support and no raft. Depends on your needed size because of the overhanging parts and your printer setup. I used a makerbot clone.
