Universal Mount 525 for MPCNC
thingiverse
UPDATE 13/07/2016 First version for the 525 Z system is out. Version C, F and J published but not yet printed. If anyone tries it, let me know how it goes. UPDATE 31/12/2015 A US version of the 23.5 conduit was added to this site. This is a first release of my Universal Mount for the Mostly Printed CNC system. For my second build of an MPCNC, I wanted a more convenient way to change tools without having to unscrew nuts and get them stuck. I saw Lucan07's design and decided to improve it by changing its shape to minimize tilt and adding an optional way to secure tools with two or four screws that can be easily removed. The Universal Mount holds in place just like other tool mounts, with four M4 screws holding the mount and nuts inside the pipes. Then, tools mount can be fitted on two different sliders, called "mini mount" and "maxi mount," depending on the weight of the tool. Sliders have a 0.4 tolerance to the mount so printer calibration is an important point before printing it. I printed it with PLA, and the fit was tight but sliding is quite easy. On the back of the Universal Mount are four m3 nuts for securing sliders to prevent tilt or vibrations. The nuts have a very tight fit because I wanted it to hold in place during swapping tools. In this release, there are four main files: the universal mount itself, the "mini mount," the "maxi mount," and the "maxi mount" with an offset of 10mm to avoid tool-to-bearer touch when the Z axis moves up. I have included STEP files for easy editing, allowing people interested to adapt their own tool holders. I will post a remix of a pen holder, and a friend of mine is planning to soon release a MK8 mount version. NOTE: This Universal Mount is designed for International MPCNC but can be adapted to other versions upon request. Print Settings: Resolution: 0.3 Infill: 70%
